Coach Warner has been a Mustang assistant, since the 2008-09 season and is reponsible for personally mentoring numerous Mustangs who have gone on to play in the NCAA and professionally.

Coach Warner knows a lot about what it takes to play big in big games.  A star player for Monroe from 1998-2000, Coach Warner improved as a player in each of his collegiate seasons.  As a sophomore he averaged a solid 13.7 ppg for the Mustangs’ first-ever Division I team that went 22-10 and won a Region Championship.

After graduating from Monroe College, Coach Warner received an athletic scholarship to attend Slippery Rock University in PA. During his time at Slippery Rock University,  Coach Warner was named PSAC player of the week. He then took the experience from Slippery Rock that was beneficial to his academic and athletic career and transferred to play his senior season at CCNY.

He concluded his playing days on high notes, to say the least, as a First-team CUNY All-star averaging 18ppg and 6 apg for a CCNY team that won the CUNY Championship.  He was the MVP of the CUNY tournament, a Met Basketball Writers First-team All-star, and a Third-team All-Atlantic Region selection.

He then coached at CCNY for a year and eventually continued his playing career overseas.  But he’s now back home to Monroe, where it all started, to share his basketball knowledge and big-game experience.

    Mike Tuitt – Assistant Coach

Coach Tuitt is a former Mustang who can speak first-hand of the opportunity playing ball for Monroe can bring.  A Rookie of the Year as a Mustang point guard in 2008-09, he led the team in assists on the way to a District Championship.

Prior to Monroe he was a First-team All-PSAL player at Gompers HS in the Bronx, leading the team in scoring with 25 ppg in his junior year.

He then transferred to American Christain prep school in his senior year where he won a national championship, scoring 12 ppg, 6 apg, and 4 rpg.  But his most important numbers came in the classroom where he made the Dean’s list with a 3.5 GPA.   Of note, his back court mate at American Christian was Tyreke Evans, who went on to play in the NBA.

Coach Tuitt's excellent academic record continued at Hampton University where he graduated with a BA in Sports Management, making the Dean’s list with a 3.5 GPA.   In 2010-11 the Pirates were MEAC champions and Tuitt played for them in the NCAA tournament.
