Why did you decide to attend the King Graduate School?

I am halfway through my career with the NYPD, and I wanted to ensure that I have options when I retire. The Master’s in Criminal Justice program offers great incentives for members of the NYPD, and was the best option for me financially. The school also offers an online degree, which was a necessity due to my hectic work schedule.

What stood out to you when you were applying to King Graduate School?

Dean Alex Canals helped me map out my curriculum, and was attentive to my concerns and genuinely enthused to share my success. I didn’t feel like just a number, as I did when I spoke to some other schools.

Tell me a bit about your job. How does your degree help you at work?

As a training detective for the Transit Special Victims Squad of the NYPD Special Victims Unit, I respond to incidents, investigate allegations, interview victims, obtain evidence, make arrests, and conduct interrogations. The King Graduate School equipped me to analyze the issues I face on a day-to-day basis. It taught me to examine my own biases, broadened my horizons, and made me a more well-rounded detective.
